MOVE FOR MOVEMBER – MRS BRIGHT’S ANNUAL PLANK CHALLENGE

One of the highlights of our Movember awareness campaign is the much-anticipated annual Plank Challenge hosted by the incredible Mrs Bright.

As part of our efforts to raise awareness for Movember, Mrs Bright invites both staff and students to take part in this difficult challenge each year. So far, Mrs Bright’s record remains unbeatable, with no one managing to out-plank her!

A big congratulations to Mrs Bright, along with Year 7 students Flynn and Harry who claimed second and third place, respectively.

Together we can make a difference for men's health – in prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health and suicide prevention.

St Dominic’s College congratulates Year 12 2024 student Michael, on the nomination of his Major Work sculpture, ‘Mycelial Bodies’, for the prestigious 2024 ARTEXPRESS exhibition.

ARTEXPRESS is an annual series of exhibitions of exemplary artworks created by New South Wales visual arts students for the Higher School Certificate examination.

Michael’s sculpture explores the tension between nature and industrialisation, juxtaposing the organic growth of mycelium—a living network of fungal threads—with the rigid, mass-produced components of car parts. Through this striking contrast, Michael highlights the irreplaceable uniqueness of the natural world, emphasising its beauty in a society increasingly driven by mechanical replication.

This is an outstanding achievement, and the St Dominic’s College Community is proud to celebrate Michael’s success.
